Our Story
Meet Marla Baker
Marla Baker, owner and Director of Maricopa We Care, has been a long-standing pillar in the community. Starting her ownership portfolio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she opened a successful hair salon in 1997 for 16 years as well as a daycare center for seven years. She then retired after 34 years as a licensed cosmetologist. After moving to Arizona, she officially launched We Care in 2017.
Marla Baker has provided various services as a salon owner, Sunday School teacher, prison ministry leader, and Bible College student. She has worn many hats throughout the years and has secured her spot, creating Arizona’s number one most trusted caregiving service.
Marla’s passion for caregiving was inspired by her great aunt. At age 86, she was placed in a nursing home which Marla would visit frequently. Spending her time at the nursing home, Marla observed some of the unsafe conditions that patients, including her great aunt, faced bringing deep compassion for them and for families who weren’t aware of their loved ones facing harsh environments. This fueled her to create a system in which needed patients are safe and cared for in the comfort of their own homes.
